I reckoned that the long zucchini is getting old so I harvest it to encourage a new batch of Zucchini to grow. Anyone can tell me whether these two zucchini is too old or not? and how do we know when should we harvest a good zucchini. I really have never planted any zucchini before and therefore I'm quite not sure what am I doing.
I've setup a vegetable patch (or I rather call it a vegetable jungle) in my backyard. Through companion planting I'm trying to create a sustainable vegetable jungle where I can grow vegetable that I eat. Having to enjoy your own home grown vegetable is the greatest feeling ever and I want to share it with others to prove it to you how simple and fun it is to setup and maintain one vege jungle.

ReplyDeleteMmmm...from the photos, I think it is still OK to be in the wok;-). The zukes look OK size to me but I am not sure about button.Tips to know which size is allright to harvest is checking the size which is usually on display in the market shelves.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious.... **contemplating growing gourd**
ReplyDeleteHi. That yellow squash looks delicious!!
ReplyDeleteI love your photo's on your blog, and i'm looking forward to seeing a lot more of them!
Simon.
Thanks Simon.. like gardening I like photography too. Now that I have this garden my subject will always be the garden ;)
ReplyDeleteI reckon that a courgette / marrow / squash / zucchini has to be REALLY big to be inedible. Yours look good to me. With the big ones you just have to cook them a bit longer and slower. A tiny courgette can be fried in a minute or so, but a big marrow needs to be braised in the oven for an hour.
ReplyDeleteWe actually fry it in a stir fry vegi and it was delicious. Was quite nervous before we cooked it though.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see summer squash in February... I guess it's always summer somewhere! Meanwhile we are experiencing extremely unusual winter temp on the Oregon coast of 22F last night...
